These "W prefix" Yugo reworks still have the original German factory and date markings on the top of the receiver ring, but the other German receiver markings and the original serial numbers were scrubbed, and the rifles were renumbered with a new W prefix serial number on the right side of the receiver ring, the bolt handle, the stock, and the floorplate. While most Yugo K98k reworks had the receivers scrubbed and the Communist Yugoslavian crest and Yugoslavian arsenal markings added, there's one uncommon Yugo rework variant that had some of the receiver ring markings left intact: the so-called "W prefix" rifles, of which this is one.
